BIG Awards

The Poul B. Madsen Award
Established in 1997 in honour of Professor Poul B. Madsen who joined the institute in 1991 after a distinguished career in industry where he pioneered audiometric instrumentation. It is awarded annually in recognition of excellence in Applied Biomedical Engineering.

Lucent Global Science Scholars Program-Information Technologies (IT) Award
This industry award is based on academic achievement, extra curricular activities, research experience, lab work, as well as information technologies.

The Anna Jamieson Award
This award is presented to a student or recent graduate of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto who has demonstrated superior abilities and willingness to coordinate the institutes's facilities, academic activities, or in other ways has contributed to the quality of life at the institute.
 Wanda Oprea (2004)

The Norman F. Moody Award
Established in 1974, on the occasion of the retirement of the founder and first director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. This award is presented to a graduate student in recognition of his or her excellence.
