Project
One of the major projects in the Shoichet lab is controlled drug delivery for spinal cord regeneration. To this end the lab has developed a composite injectable drug delivery platform composed of PLGA microspheres embedded in a hyaluronan methylcellulose (HAMC) hydrogel. I am specifically interested in adapting this system for the delivery of chondroitinase ABC. Chondroitinase ABC is a bacterial enzyme capable of degrading components of the glial scar – a physical and chemical barrier to axonal regeneration.
