Karyn Ho, B.A.Sc. karyn.ho@utoronto.ca Project Bio Our goal is to use Herceptin, a monoclonal antibody that recognizes and binds to the HER2 surface antigen, to actively target polymeric nanoparticles to breast cancer cells. These nanoparticles will be loaded with an anticancer drug for localized release both at established tumour sites and at the locations of metastasized cancer cells. In this way, we will reduce the harmful impact that systemic drug administration can have on healthy tissues while increasing drug efficacy against diseased tissues.
