Graduate students
We are looking for bright and self-motivated graduate students in the generic field of Computational Materials Engineering. Because of the multidisciplinary nature of our work, candidates from Engineering (Aerospace / Mechanical / Materials Science / Civil / Chemical / Nano / Nuclear Eng) or Physical Sciences (Applied Physics / Chemistry) are encouraged to apply.
At present, three positions (preferably PhD) are available in the following broad research projects involving multiscale modeling of materials:
Atomic structure-property relationships in bulk metallic glasses
Computational screening of materials for artificial photosynthesis
Strength and failure in nanocrystalline alloys
Thermomechanical behavior of functionalized polymer nano-composites
See our Research page for further information. Although computational background is not necessary, it is a plus. If you are interested in joining our research team, Please contact me with a cover letter and CV outlining your relevant interest, experience and the contact information for three references to chandraveer.singh@utoronto.ca. Please mention if you are an international or a domestic (Canadian citizen/ permanent resident) candidate. Prospective graduate students must meet MSE Department admissions criteria for official acceptance.
There are several scholarship opportunities for both Canadian (including PR) and international candidates. Please note that eligibility criteria are specific to an opportunity. Canadian applicants are also encouraged to apply for NSERC or Ontario Graduate Scholarships. Students who hold OGS Scholarships from the Ontario Provincial Government, or NSERC PGS awards from the Canadian federal government, are eligible for UofT Top-up Awards.
